There are many factors which can lead to otalgia or earache. Among those factors, the first is the buildup of pressure in the eustachian tube. The eustachian tube drains fluids out of the middle ear through the back of the throat. But sometimes, a cold, allergy or sore throat can result in the swelling up and shutting of the eustachian tube. Tonsillitis and sinus infections cause earache as well, particularly among children. When people are in high altitudes or experience rapid change in altitude, for example when flying, an earache may result.

Earache can be a signal that the ear canal is blocked up by an outer object or by earwax. It may be a signal of a perforated or broken eardrum, caused by a hit on the head, infection in the inner ear, suction applied to the ear or the insertion of an outer object into the ear. Usually, “Swimmer’s ear” is an ordinary ear infection as well. It is an infection of the outer ear structures. The reason why this condition occurs is that water enters into the ear canal. Bacteria’s reproduction in the ear canal results in infection and irritation. Thus we find that for treatment of an earache(, treatment of the infection seems to be the most important.

People use many homeopathic and herbal solutions traditionally in the treatment of earache. Anecdotal evidence suggests that these solutions can work well. A natural supplement, belladonna is a strongly recommended homeopathic medicine for the treatment of a throbbing earache. At the same time, Chamomilla, which is used as natural supplement for earache( as well, is often used for babies who are a teething. A Echinacea and goldenseal herbal combination formula is a common herbal cures often used in the treatment of earache. Echinacea and goldenseal are used as an antiviral and they can boost the immune system.

Garlic, an antibacterial, can work well in the treatment of earache( by healing an ear infection. Heating a few drops of garlic juice in sesame oil and then put them into the ear can sweep any infection away. As a traditional Native American cure, mullein oil is used in relieving swelling and inflammation. The oil is warmed to right above body temperature and one or two drops are put into the infected ear. Make sure to remember that earaches may be a symptom of more serious problems. If the earache is sustained for a period of time or coupled with fever, you should consult a doctor to deal with the problem. It is necessary to have antibiotics in the treatment of a long-lasting earache, and sometimes eardrops may be used as well.

Pneumonia can be caused by infection from germs such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites. It is an illness of the lungs and respiratory system which occurs when the alveoli become inflamed and flooded with fluid. Pneumonia is a common illness that occurs in all age groups and is one of the leading causes of death among elderly people who are terminally ill. Before the discovery of antibiotics, one-third of all people who developed pneumonia died from the infection. However, nowadays over three million people develop pneumonia each year in the United States alone, with only half a million of these people being admitted to a hospital for treatment. Although most people are able to get better at home with treatment from a doctor, pneumonia can occasionally be very serious and require hospitalization. If left untreated, pneumonia can lead to serious illness and even death. Approximately 5% of the three million people that develop pneumonia each year will die from it. Therefore it is important to receive treatment if you feel you are experiencing symptoms of pneumonia. These symptoms include fever and chills, coughing, wheezing or fast breathing, chest pain, tiredness, muscle pain, and headache. Pneumonia is usually caused by an infection that spreads to the lungs. There are vaccines available to prevent certain types of pneumonia. Pneumonia is diagnosed by health care provides based on symptoms and findings from physical examination. Information gathered from a chest X-ray, blood tests, and sputum cultures are also helpful to diagnose this illness. Diagnosing pneumonia can be especially difficult in some people, especially those with other illnesses. On rare occasions, a chest CT scan may be needed to distinguish pneumonia from other illnesses.

For those people who suffer from chronic pneumonia, there are many concerns with aging. The desire is to encourage the body to fight the infection naturally as we continue to get older. Smoking, malnutrition, kidney failure, asthma, chronic viral infections of the respiratory tract, taking immunosuppressive drugs, and a weakened immune system all predispose certain people for contracting pneumonia. There are many things you can do for yourself when considering natural alternatives for treating pneumonia. These include drinking large amounts of fluid such as water, fruit and vegetable juices, soups, broths, and herbal teas. You should also avoid caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, sugar, greasy foods, and dairy products which increase mucus production. Be sure to eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables. Recommended supplements for those who deal with chronic pneumonia include vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin C with bioflavonoids, and zinc. Vitamin A, which is essential for lung tissue regeneration, will also stimulate immune function. Beta carotene is a powerful antioxidant compound that can help to protect lung tissue from damage caused by smoke and infection. Vitamin C stimulates the immune system while being an anti-inflammatory compound. Additionally, it boosts immunity and scavenges free-radicals that are caused by pneumonia infection. Be sure to boost your immunity year round so that you can do all that you can to encourage your body’s ability to fight off the destructive infection of chronic pneumonia.

In the event you are searching for a method to obtain effective migraine headache relief there just might be a migraine headache remedy in existence that will help you get relief. You will find lots of natural and effective treatment approaches and by being persistent it may be possible to locate one that will help you get rid of your pain. Learn about 4 migraine headache remedies that have be shown to be helpful for a large number of headache sufferers.

There are 2 main categories when it comes to locating an effective migraine headache remedy. Migraine therapies can either be designed to give you instantaneous relief from your symptoms or designed to correct or improve a health disorder which may lead to long term relief. The following four natural treatment techniques can offer both instant and long lasting relief and have proven helpful over time.

1 – Chiropractic care

Chiropractic manipulation has been used for more than one hundred years as a way to stop migraine headaches and alternative kinds of pain or symptoms. Often it only takes one manipulation to eliminate a headache, but with repeated chiropractic adjustments it is frequently possible to put a stop to migraines permanently.

Doctors of chiropractic tell us that vertebral misalignments can irritate spinal nerve roots, inflicting inflammation, muscle tension, disorders such as headache pain, along with other related health problems. Correcting or improving these vertebral misalignments can alleviate headaches and neck pain that are a direct result of the nerve root irritation.

2 – Biofeedback therapy

Another migraine headache remedy is biofeedback and has given impressive results for a large number of years. Body functions such as blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature are autonomic functions of the body, meaning your body controls them routinely without any assistance from you.

Biofeedback training is a training program that teaches people how to control and manage these automatic body functions voluntarily. When an individual has learned these skills they are capable of using these biofeedback procedures to cause relaxation of their muscle tissue and in so doing reduce or stop a headache or other symptoms of tension and anxiety.

3 – Find and remove food allergies

Certain foods can produce migraine attacks in some people and are referred to as food or migraine triggers. Finding these food triggers and removing them from the diet is accomplished with the help of a headache journal and is one more excellent migraine headache remedy.

The journal works by keeping track of when you breathe, eat, or drink anything. All chemicals and foods you eat or come into contact with need to be written in the journal. Additionally, you have to make a note of each occasion you experience a migraine headache. Over time it is possible to discover what foods or chemicals are your food triggers.

As soon as you have exposed a food trigger it is a straightforward matter to remove it from your diet or usage. With a small amount of persistence headache sufferers can often discover and remove the reason for their migraines using this tactic. Common food triggers are wheat, avocados, cheese, nuts, caffeine, MSG, and others.

4 – Cold packs

Putting a bag of ice on the back of the neck at the bottom of the skull is one more exceptional migraine headache remedy. The purpose is to reduce the blood flow and thus the pressure within the head. A moist cloth should be positioned between the epidermis and the bag of ice as a protective barrier to prevent the skin from becoming too cold. To boost the effect you can also set your feet in heated water or take a heated bathtub. This can help move the blood away from the head, causing any throbbing head pain to decrease.

As a sufferer, you may be wondering what the various asthma causes are. Asthma is a respiratory condition that can leave you considerably weakened with difficulty in breathing, gasping for breath and sometimes coughing. A severe asthma condition can have a vast impact on the quality of your life. However, instead of being resigned to feelings of helplessness, you should look for ways to better deal with it and to take control of your own health.

To find out what asthma causes are, you must first realize that not all asthma is the same. Several different types of asthma have different triggers.

- Allergic asthma. Allergic asthma is when the symptoms are triggered by allergens that the sufferer is exposed to. Some of the most common triggers in allergic asthma are dust, pollen, pet dander, etc. An avoidance or reduced exposure to these triggers can help substantially. Most children who are diagnosed with asthma suffer from allergic asthma. Smoking during pregnancy and when your children are still young can make them more vulnerable to allergic asthma.

- Exercise-induced asthma. This form of asthma develops during strenuous exercise. This asthma is due to the fact that the lungs lose their moisture and heat during times of physical activity. Coughing is the most common symptom observed with this type of asthma, although there may be more severe symptoms.

- Intrinsic asthma. Intrinsic asthma describes a condition where the symptoms are not linked to a particular allergy. Some of the triggers in intrinsic asthma are perfume, smoke and cold air, cleaning fumes, an upper respiratory infection, and GERD or gastroesophageal reflux. Patients who begin having allergy symptoms after the age of 40 most often suffer from intrinsic asthma.

- Nocturnal asthma. Nocturnal asthma happens while you are asleep. Asthma symptoms can be triggered by bedding allergens or other allergens located in your bedroom, GERD, or a decrease in the temperature of the bedroom.

- Occupational asthma. Occupational asthma occurs when you begin having asthma symptoms due to being in contact with dust, fumes, chemicals, or other irritants over a long period of time at work. You can find it hard to concentrate at work. If you are not able to make major changes to your working environment, you may need to consider changing your job for the sake of your health.

It is vital that you learn more about asthma causes to determine how best to control or avoid your triggers. Only by taking responsibility of your health can you lead a life, with reduced or virtually no allergy symptoms to plaque you.

You’ve Heard Red Wine’s Good For You? Here’s Why

by Michael D. Hume, M.S.

Years ago, researchers from Harvard Medical School (and others) found an impressive nutrient with the power to fight aging, improve cardio-vascular and neurologic health, and help the human body battle everything from fatigue to disease. It’s called “resveratrol,” and it’s the ingredient in red wine that you’ve heard so much talk about lately.

How does it work?

Well, Father Time is wreaking havoc on your body, all the time. As you grow older (especially if you can manage to do it in our modern fast-food-and-TV societies), your body is bombarded by toxins of all sorts, from airborne and food-borne toxins to the stuff your flourescent lights are putting out that’s slowly killing your brain. The bad stuff attacks your cells, and literally starts tearing them apart. You’ve heard the term “free radical,” right? Those are particles torn from your cells that are floating around inside you, looking to attach themselves to healthy cells (and thereby making those cells UN-healthy in short order). Even if you lived a brilliantly clean life (and you don’t), this would happen anyway… your cells just break down over time. The technical term for this is “oxidation,” and you know it as “gettin’ old.”

To fight the oxidation of their cells – from both natural aging and the more unnatural aspects of life in 2011 – people buy and consume mass quantities of “anti-oxidants.” Not enough people do this, of course, and you can almost see it in the color of their hair and the wrinkles in their skin. Anti-oxidants are VERY important, and should be one of the centerpieces of your daily supplement regimen. They work to help your body repair those damaged cells, safely eliminate those free radicals, and resist further damage. Think of anti-oxidants as the Health Patrol in your body, running around fixing and protecting you at the cellular level… and foiling the attacks of Father Time.

And one of the best anti-oxidants (if not THE best) is resveratrol.

That’s why many researchers are saying that, not only will a glass or two of red wine every day not kill you, it would be good for you. You actually get a tiny benefit from the alcohol (as long as you don’t overdo it), because it helps clean your blood and reduce your bad cholesterol. But the big bennies come from the resveratrol, the commanding general of that Health Patrol we talked about. Resveratrol, in the right concentration, literally turns on human genes that order your cells to fix themselves.

The trouble is, you’d have to drink hundreds of glasses of wine every day to get resveratrol in the “right concentration” to activate those genes. Here’s a hint: don’t do that. One day like that, and you’re off the planet… not to mention that, while drunkenness of any kind is horrible for you, red wine produces a particularly mean and unpleasant kind of hangover that you just don’t want. Or so somebody told me. Even slightly over-doing it, over time, can make you fat and lazy. Wine does contain sugar, after all, and sugar’s just not all that great for your body.

So many companies are putting out resveratrol supplements, and if you haven’t added such a supplement to your daily health regimen, you should. Is it the very best medicine for anti-aging? No, highly-expensive clinical gene therapy is probably better. But for the average person, resveratrol is the best “available” medicine to help your body fight the clock.

When choosing a resveratrol supplement, there are a few things you need to look for. First, don’t just cheap out. The quality, potency, and safety of resveratrol supplements varies greatly, and you don’t want to get what’s cheap if it isn’t good. You want to make sure the product you buy is safe: the nutrient should be high-quality, harvested from a location where they care about things like purity and human rights, tested to be free of agricultural chemicals, and manufactured in a safe (inspected) facility. And if you can, get an activated liquid product for optimal delivery of the nutrient to your cells (resveratrol is only moderately absorbed from the human gut).

I use just such a resveratrol supplement that mimics the wine I love to drink (but shouldn’t drink as much of as I sometimes have!). It even comes in a wine bottle, and I can mix just a little bit of it with water to make a glass of “fake wine” that’s REALLY good for me. I’ve been focusing on using it daily for a few days now, and I can really feel the difference in my energy level. And Friend Wife even told me this weekend that my face looks… younger!

I recommend resveratrol, taken in the right concentration with a healthy dose of the other thing that fights aging: optimism. Sure, the world is trying to make you old quickly these days, and you have to contend with everything from taking care of your business in your day job to dealing with the effects of a crumbling global economy. And do you really want to rely on government health care? But things will get better. For one thing, after a regimen of anti-oxidants such as resveratrol, you’ll be “younger” next month! You’ll have more energy to do battle with the challenges in your life. In short, your life improves as YOU take personal responsibility to improve yourself. And a strong commitment to daily health habits, such as consistent use of the miracle of resveratrol, will literally make you better every day.
